My take on V5
Journal Entry: Wed Aug 9, 2006, 11:25 AM
I'm not a person given to online journal keeping or any Journal keeping for that matter but lets see if this starts a trend. I have not been able to post as much I would like since joining deviantART, real world stuff has been weighing me down over the last few months and I have had little or no time to work on personal projects. But still despite my few deviations I still love coming here when I get a change, taking a look at whats new, looking again at whats old, its something I really enjoy doing. There us such creativity on display here. It really saddens me that I am so completely unable to use the site right now. Opera is my web browser of choice (just a personal thing) and is utterly unusable. Firefox and Internet explorer are better but still massively buggy. Bugs are to be expected, but to this degree?
I have not yet been able to form a real ascetic opinion of V5 but I do find it a more closterphobic experience. I would imagine I would I will adapt to it in time, the thing that us irking me is the bugs.
It was said in one of the threads concerning this that all change is a positive thing (or words to that effect) I would dispute this. There is most definitely such a thing as negative change.
At the moment of the big bang an infinite universe was created populated by a finite amount of information. The information it would seem can never be happy with what it is, constantly changing constantly mutating. The information that you are made of did not come into existence at the moment of your birth it has existed ever since the that big band. It has been part of grass and plants and other animals, it has been specs of dust floating in the void. Change it would seem is the nature of things. But still that does not make change always good. Change (from a human point of view) is basically the process of gaining one thing and losing another. What denotes a good change from a bad is whether what you gain is superior to what you lost. So I ask you is what you have gained with DiviantART V5 worth what you have lost? Also one must ask what the motivation for this change was, was it to make things better? Or was it change for that sake of change?
What ever way you look at it they need to fix the bugs.
